Kurdish

These carpets are hand-knotted by Kurdish nomads from western Iran. The nomads, now sedentary, once moved along the borders with Iraq and Turkey. The motifs on these carpets are usually mina-khani, herati, rhombuses and medallions. The colours are mostly dark, on a blue or burgundy background.

Being made of wool, it is a natural dirt repellent, has good fire resistance and maintains its shape very well over time.
