Hand knotted rug
Indian silk carpets are handmade and are inspired by traditional Persian silk carpets. The oriental designs on the carpets are medallions, patterns with repeated symmetry and plant motifs (typically from the garden). Thanks to silk, these carpets are thin and light, with a beautiful natural sheen. Silk also allows for detailed designs, and the carpets are made with impressive meticulousness.
Silk is one of the strongest natural fibers available. The finest rugs with rich detailing can only be made using silk, as other fibers are too coarse for this. Silk has a smooth, soft, lustrous texture with a natural beauty and shine.
