Hand knotted rug
Shiraz carpets are knotted in Fars province, in the capital of Shiraz, in southwestern Iran. The motifs on these carpets are typical of nomadic peoples: simple geometric figures and often several rhombuses in the centre of the carpet. Floral motifs or depictions of birds may also appear. The background colour is usually red, while the motifs are in different shades of blue.
Being made of wool, it is a natural dirt repellent, has good fire resistance and maintains its shape very well over time.
